Flights into and out of Edinburgh Airport were halted or diverted for about an hour on Friday morning because of a technical issue with its air traffic control provider, the airport said.
The airport said in a statement at 10:39 a.m. local time (5:39 a.m. Eastern Standard Time) that flights had resumed, just over an hour after it reported the issue.
The issue appeared to have affected only Edinburgh Airport, which is the busiest in Scotland and the sixth busiest in Britain.
The airport advised travelers to check with airlines for the latest information on their flights.
A Delta Air Lines flight from New York that had been scheduled to land in Edinburgh on Friday morning was diverted to Dublin, according to FlightAware, a flight tracking company.
FlightAware said shortly before 11 a.m. local time that delays for incoming flights were about 45 minutes and increasing, and that average departure delays were about an hour and 15 minutes. Two hours later, the delays had eased somewhat.
